Rough Steps

  • Boil eggs at home.

  • Wrap each egg in a thin patty of country sausage, then coat in flour, egg, and panko bread crumbs.

  • Fry in peanut oil over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on your camp stove.

Ingredients

  • 4 soft or hard-boiled eggs

  • 1/2 lb country sausage

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

  • Peanut oil (for frying)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Eggs:

    • Boil the eggs Place eggs in boiling water for about 6-7 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10-12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs, then cool them in ice water. Peel and set aside.

  2. Prepare the Sausage:

    • Flatten the country sausage into thin patties or strips large enough to cover each egg

    • Wrap around each soft-boiled egg.

  3. Coat the Eggs:

    • Roll each sausage/egg ball in flour to coat evenly.

    • Dip the floured egg into a bowl with beaten eggs.

    • Then roll it in panko bread crumbs to coat fully.

  4. Fry the Sausage-Wrapped Eggs:

    • When you're ready to cook on the trail, heat peanut oil in a pan over medium heat on your camp stove.

    • Fry the sausage-wrapped eggs for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the sausage is browned and cooked through and the coating is crispy.

  5. Serve:

    • Remove the eggs from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

    • Serve warm and enjoy!
